So here we stand at the beginning our 4th season as Deeping Rangers Blues. I am sure that the team has never been stronger. The progress made from within and the qualities of the new boys who have joined have really cemented the squad.
It is no suprise that we had such a successful summer of tournaments. Winners - Oadby, Wisbech, Crowland; Runners-Up- Rippingale, Crowland ; Semi Final – Skegness and we have looked very convincing in the pre season friendlies (at time of writing) against Glinton and Hampton.
It is a great disappointment that we find ourselves competing in Division 2 this season. In terms of targets, I expect us to win the division and aim to win at least one of the two cup competitions entered. This seasons cups are the League Cup (final played at Focus Centre) and a new competition for Under 11s called the PFA Cup which has the final played at Peterborough’s London Road ground.
I am very much looking forward to 9 aside football. I think it is a format which is both good for the player’s progress and will also suit our squad’s strengths. This is a key age in the development of young players where much progress can be made. Like always, I am sure there will be some ups and downs throughout the 2011-2012 season, but I will do my best to ensure that the boys are having fun, developing skills, strength and speed as players and are proud to play for their club.
So here we go into the Under11 2011-12 season with great excitement – Lets go Rangers !
