Arun and Jack preview this FA Cup encounter...
As we enter the preliminary rounds of a hopefully memorable cup run, us at Rangers will look to add onto our momentum following our 2-1 away win at Shirebrook Town thanks to a Josh Moreman brace of which the latter was scored in the 3rd minute of stoppage time.
The furthest we have ever achieved in an FA Cup run has been the 2nd qualifying round to which we have reached on 4 separate occasions, the most recent being the 2019/20 season in which we were knocked out in a 3-2 away loss to Hendon who were 2 divisions above us at the time.
However, as we look towards our opponents this Saturday (the recently promoted) Loughborough Students, their best ever FA Cup run came in the 2011/12 season in which they reached the first qualifying round, of which is the match after the preliminary round, so if they win on Saturday, it will be their best ever FA Cup run for 13 years.
Loughborough achieved their spot in the preliminary round after successfully defeating Bugbrooke St Michaels in a 2-0 away victory. Despite this, at the time of writing, they lost their latest match in a 2-1 league defeat to Coleshill.
The Scholars got the better of us 3 times last season as they cut our FA Vase hopes short in a 3-6 defeat at the Haydon Whitham Stadium, of which had to endure another league loss to the Students last year in a close 0-1 defeat and finally a 3-2 away defeat in Loughborough.
However lets attempt to conquer our white whale and advance into the next stage.
Come On Rangers!
