Rangers welcomed new goalkeeper Alfie Pollard to the starting line up with front man Tom Waumsley on the bench as two signings ahead of this match.
Despite early chances for the visitors the home side struck first leaving some to wonder if Rangers would falter as a result of fragile confidence and their lowly league position.
But the opposite happened and the side which has been growing into their season under recently appointed boss Brett Whaley got back into the game before half time through a Matt Sparrow strike.
They kept that momentum flowing into the second period and could have won it before a late own goal saw the three points stay in Lincoln.
"That's what happens when you are down the bottom" said Whaley in his post match interview, but with a small break before the next league game he will be looking to focus on the positives and get his side working on the training pitch.
